The sun rose on Day 6 and we were out of the house not far behind. As we did in each of our other park days, we packed frozen Uncrustable sandwiches, frozen Gogurts, frozen Gatorades, celementines, string cheeses, and other snacks to keep us going through the day. We excitedly passed under the big sign welcoming us to the Magic Kingdom.
Camie and Jared worked for hours to plan the perfect itinerary for the Magic Kingdom day to optimize the Fast Passes so we wouldn't let lines and indecision have us waiting around. Step 1 was to arrive in plenty of time for the rope drop. We coordinated our t-shirts for the day with the Christensens - the boys with mouse-ear-wearing Storm Troopers, and the older girls with a mouse silhouetted Cinderella's castle and younger ones with Minnie Mouse ears.
We planned rides like Space Mountain, Peter Pan's Flight, and Splash Mountain using our Fast Passes and filled in the other rides until Splash Mountain based on where we were. One of our first highlights was visiting Belle and having the Be Our Guest experience.
About the longest line we stood in was 15-20 minutes in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, after which we stayed to watch the stage show.
After Pirates of the Caribbean, we went to Splash Mountain, which is always awesome!
After Splash Mountain, our Fast Passes were used up, so Camie and Jared, on the Disney app, would find the next best available fast pass. Typically, that fast pass would be a short walk away and not eligible for a 20-40 minutes, but we would always spend that time well, either riding a ride or two on the way, getting ice cream, trading pins, or using the potty (or all of those things!). The more successes we had, the more exciting it was to have even more seemingly perfectly planned rides! That meant we could ride Big Thunder Mountain, It's a Small World, the Jungle Cruise, Dumbo, the Teacups, Tomorrowland Speedway, and more.
One of the highlights of Disney is the Pineapple Dole Whip ice cream, which you can only get at Disney parks (okay... that's not quite true - but we thought it was true at the time!).
Even with all the rides we rode, we had plenty of time to trade pins with workers all over the park
and we even had enough time to join in on the dance party happening during the midday parade
and for some pictures at Cinderella's castle.
One of the hilarious parts of going to Disney parks is the sea of strollers parked everywhere! In many of the attractions, there would be a separate stroller parking lot nearby - or a sign telling you that the area right outside the ride was NOT a stroller parking lot (albeit in a Disney way of telling you).
The kids were excited to ride the carousel.
Near the carousel was the Sword in the Stone, which the cousins all took a turn tugging on. I wonder what would happen if, one day, someone actually freed the sword from the stone!
We took Torin on a ride on the Barnstormer, Torin's big roller coaster. He was pretty understated, but he enjoyed it. We think.
The park is beautiful when it is lit up at night, with the castle and rides all glowing. We walked toward Main Street with the stores lit up and vendors selling light-up toys everywhere to watch the fireworks.
Along the way, of course, we traded pins.
The fireworks were totally worth staying for, and we picked a perfect place to watch from! It really capped off an incredible trip for us
We were so happy to have shared this trip with Matt and Camie and their family and Nana and Papa!
