A new calling

Jared was asked to come to President Hornibrook's home last weekend and asked if Keith and Nan would like to join. It was only a few minutes before going that Jared realized this would be a little more than a social visit. That was confirmed as Jared was asked to serve as the second counselor, with Steve Scott as first counselor, with Ted Jeffries as bishop.

This came as a pretty big shock as just the past weekend, Jared and Dani had received confirmation that we were supposed to look for jobs in Cincinnati so we could move our family there.

After receiving the call, Jared called President Lake to discuss the situation with him. President Lake's counsel was that the Lord had called Jared for a reason and that bishop Jeffries felt a strong and clear impression. Whether it was a few weeks, a few months, or a few years that we would serve together, President Lake promised that it was the Lord's will and that it would be a glorious time.

After some prayer and counseling with Dani, the confirmation was received, and Jared accepted the call. Jared was ordained to the office of High Priest by his father, Keith, the next day. The timing could not have been better, as Nan and Keith were going home later in that day.

While there were questions in Jared's mind about this calling, we can say that the Lord truly knows us and what we need. This calling for Jared has been a blessing in our family's lives, and bishop Jeffries expressed frequent gratitude for Jared's service, and Jared expressed a joy in serving and serving with and loving the members of the Stafford Ward.
